Willie Frank “Sam” Jones lost his battle to cancer on the evening of October 1, 2025 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas.
Willie Frank “Sam” Jones was born in Enterprise, Alabama, to Virginia "Annie" Jones and Louie Frank Jones on October 17, 1959. Sam grew up in Enterprise, where he attended school, played football, and ran track. Sam also spent a brief time in the military before being discharged. He was a devoted member of Pleasant Shade Baptist Church in Enterprise, Alabama, a community that remained close to his heart throughout his life.
In March of 1998, Sam welcomed his first daughter, Asia, with her mother, bringing immense joy and pride into his life. Over the years, he worked in a variety of roles, from the Castle Café in Daleville, Alabama, to Asplundh Tree Experts, demonstrating his strong work ethic and dedication.
A few years later, Sam relocated to Junction City, Kansas, where he built a host of friendships that supported and enriched his life. Sam had also lived in Manhattan, Kansas and was currently residing in Ogden, Kansas.
Sam loved to watch sports, travel, share laughter with friends, and create joyful memories. He was an avid Auburn Tigers fan, proudly cheering “WAR EAGLE!” throughout his life.
Above all, Sam’s greatest joy came from his family. He cherished his children and loved ones, offering unwavering support, laughter, and guidance. His devotion as a father, brother, nephew, and cousin knew no bounds. Sam leaves to cherish his only daughter, Asia Ciara Nikia Jones, of Columbus, Georgia, his only son, Joshua Michael Lints, of Daleville, Alabama, his sisters Debra Jones, Delois Jones, and Jeanette Brundidge, all of Enterprise, Alabama, along with a host of loving aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia “Annie” Jones; father, Louis Frank Jones; sister, Barbara Byrd; brothers, Louis “Shorty” Jones and Louis “Gopher” Jones Jr.; and nephew, Roy Byrd Jr., who we take comfort in knowing welcomed him with open arms.
The family extends their gratitude to KU Med in Kansas City, Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas and Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas for their care and support during this difficult time.
Though the pain of his loss is profound, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind. Sam’s spirit will continue to live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by him. He will forever remain in our hearts, a source of joy, strength, and lasting love.
Cremation is planned with no services at this time. Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home is helping with arrangements.
