Vickie Burkman
Vickie Jo Burkman, age 64 of Shawnee, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at her residence.
She was born on July 27, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Leroy Junior and Mary Lena (Beeler) Steele.
On May 2, 1981 in Kansas City, Kansas, she married Galen Ray Burkman. He survives of the home.
Vickie was a medical biller for St. Luke’s Hospital System in Kansas City. She loved her family and enjoyed quilting, traveling, genealogy, planting flowers, scrap booking and an avid lover of bluegrass music, attending the Walnut Valley Blue Grass Festival.
In addition to her husband Galen, she is survived by two daughters, Sara Johnson and husband Ryan of Olathe and Jennifer Burkman of Shawnee; three sisters, Donna Doggett and husband Gary of Shawnee, Mary Griggs and husband Fred of Leavenworth, and Sandy Visentin and husband Pete of Cheshire, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Cale, Peyton and Steele, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2022 at the Walsburg Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Program at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
