Shirley Strauss

Shirley Jane Strauss, age 80 of Riley, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at her residence.

She was born on September 4, 1941 in Hays, the daughter of Chancy and Lena (Liggett) Fellers.

On August 9, 1959, she married Richard Otto Strauss. He survives of the home.

Shirley worked for over 25 years at the Riley State Bank and loved her time there, serving in many capacities. She helped her husband on the farm, being able to do anything that was asked of her. Shirley collected anything having to do with pigs and you couldn’t walk into her house without knowing it. She was a member of the Walsburg Lutheran Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Dan Strauss and wife Illene of Riley; four grandchildren, Allen Strauss (Rose), David Smith (Joy), Angela Smith and Jamie Christensen and five great grandchildren, Hanna Strauss, Raelynn Strauss, Summer Strauss, Susan Tyrell and Makenna Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Judy Mall.

Cremation is planned with private family services at a later date.

A memorial has been established for Walsburg Lutheran Church. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
