Ronald Dean Gronewaller, age 78 of Cawker City, KS, passed away on Feb 19, 2023.

He was born on January 11, 1945, in Cawker City, the son of Joseph Henry and Maxine Ellen (Behymer) Gronewaller. Following high school, he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

He was married for a short time to Diane Baird, and they had two daughters, Angela and Jennifer.

On March 7, 1984, Ron married Diannia (Dee) Louise Neal and these two shared their life experiences together for nearly 39 years. They resided for 20 years in McPherson where he became a life member of the VFW, before moving back to Cawker City in 2019.

Ron enjoyed helping people as a bus driver, truck driver, construction worker and in military service. He loved racing, rodeo, a good diner, and making people, especially children, laugh. Ron will be long remembered for his great storytelling and a memorable life filled with anecdotes and mischievous tales. He loved watching sunsets with his wife Dee and sent her a special sunset upon his passing.

Ron is survived by his two daughters, Angela Shellito and husband Wade of Beloit and Jennifer Hallack of Beloit; five grandchildren, Kylie Eitzmann, Jarret Eitzmann, Luke Eitzmann, Caitlyn Hallack and Bailey Shellito; one brother, Robert Gronewaller and wife Sheila of Omaha, NE; his wife Dee of Cawker City; three stepsons, Justin Bailey and wife Jolene of Pennsylvania, Troy Bailey and wife Kim of Manhattan, and Travis Bailey and wife Lori of Pennsylvania; ten wonderful step-grandchildren and fourteen great-step-grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard Gronewaller and Roger Gronewaller; one sister, Marjorie Louise Brummer, and one great step-grandchild Bailey Jean Coggins.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on March 25, 2023 at the Cawker City United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 608 Lake Drive, Cawker City, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for the Ronald Gronewaller Memorial Fund to be established at a later date. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
