Pauline K. “Paulie” Hagedorn, age 83 of Barnes, Kansas, passed away Wednesday October 29, 2025, at the Linn Community Nursing Home.
She was born on April 29, 1942, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Paul and Marjorie (Dugan) McClure. Paulie enjoyed her childhood on the family farm south of Manhattan on McDowell Creek Road, spending time outdoors, caring for animals, and riding horses in the Flint Hills. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1960.
Paulie met Charlie in Manhattan, Kansas, and they were married at St. Peter Lutheran Church on June 5, 1960. They shared 65 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2025.
Paulie embraced being a farmer’s wife wholeheartedly. Working alongside Charlie brought her great joy, and she had a special love for all animals. Throughout her life, Paulie was active in her community and her church, serving as a member of the Barnes Christian Church. From a young age, Paulie cherished family gatherings, especially Sunday dinners — a tradition she lovingly carried on with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family time was always special to her. At age 38, Paulie earned the nickname “Granny,” a title she embraced with pride. She spent countless hours helping and caring for her grandchildren, always offering warmth, encouragement, and love.
She is survived by two daughters, Dené Johnson and husband Mark of Washington and Lynn Roepke and husband Brad of Waterville; one sister, Karolyn Leary of Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Dane (Sammie) Parker, Brett (Amanda) Parker, Sheree (Kenny) Weaver, Levi Jenkins, JoJo (Brady) Hammel, Rusty (Courtney) Johnson, Jordan (Meghann) Johnson, and Kendra (Patrick) Bruna, and fifteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Charlie Hagedorn, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jana Jenkins, and three siblings, Joe McClure, Betty Troutman, and Hal McClure.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Barnes Christian Church with Pastor Adam Yungeberg officiating. Music will be furnished by Betty Guin and Marilyn Rogers. Pallbearers will be Dane Parker, Brett Parker, Rusty Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Levi Jenkins, Kenny Weaver, Patrick Bruna and Brady Hammel. Honorary pallbearers are Sheree Weaver, JoJo Hammel, Kendra Bruna, Sammie Parker, Amanda Parker, Courtney Johnson, and Meghann Johnson. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery.
