Patricia Joan Cunningham, age 81 of Leonardville, Kansas died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at the Leonardville Nursing Home. She was born on March 25, 1933 at Anthony, Kansas, the daughter of John E. and Mabel V. (Martin) Whittle. She graduated from Kiowa High School. She was married to Franklin E. Cunningham on February 9, 1951 at Beaver City, Nebraska. He survives of the home. Patricia was a homemaker while her kids were in school. Afterwards, she worked for Memorial and St. Mary’s Hospitals in the obstetrics and nursery wards, Waters True Value Hardware as a clerk and volunteered with the kindergarten class at the Riley County Grade School. She enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques and Snoopy. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, Michael A. Cunningham and wife Lois of McPherson, Terry E. Cunningham of Clay Center, Jon Mark Cunningham and wife Barbara of Clay Center and Charles T. Cunningham of New Cambria; two daughters, Valeria J. Crow and husband Rick of Kooskia, Idaho and Candice A. Randall and husband Tim of Littleton, Colorado; a brother-in-law, M.A. Cunningham of Zephyrhills, Florida; 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Whittle. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Leonardville United Methodist Church with Pastor Sandy Ferguson and Rev. D. Erich Schwartz officiating. Music was furnished by Betty Peters and Louise Jahnke. Pallbearers were Jason Cunningham, Jon Cunningham, Casey Cunningham, Jeremy Cunningham, Tim Randall, Jeff Browne and Brent Bulk. Burial was in the Leonardville United Methodist Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Meadowlark Hospice and Leonardville Nursing Home. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral in Riley, Kansas.
