Michael John Hannan passed away peacefully at his home in Monroe City, Missouri, on August 19, 2025.
Michael was born on June 12, 1961, and raised in Riley, Kansas, before moving to Clay Center, where he spent most of his life. He later settled in Missouri with his true love and wife, Gail (Poerlker) Hannan.
He attended Riley County Grade School and graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1979. Following graduation, he began his career with Gilmore-Tatge and later worked for Hutchinson Marath.
Michael will be remembered for his kind and friendly spirit. He was known for his warmth, his ability to connect with others, and the love he had for both his immediate and extended family. In his free time, he enjoyed shooting pool and bowling, becoming highly skilled in both.
He is survived by his wife Gail of Monroe City, MO, along with her extended family, including three stepsons, nine step-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Brian (Debra) Hannan; his sister, Alice Christensen; niece, April (Jamey) Mellies; nephew, Kevin (Abby) Christensen; great-niece, Rylee (Samuel) Rookstool; and great-nephews, Mason and Brody Mellies. He also leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bonnie (McClenahan) Hannan; his brother-in-law, Kerry Christensen; and his stepdaughter, Jennifer Lynn Cox.
Michael will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas. Details of the service will be shared at a later date, and family and friends are warmly invited to attend.
