Marian (Jensen) Sando

Marian Muriel (Jensen) Sando, age 98 of Leonardville, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Leonardville Nursing Home.

She was born on October 17, 1927, in Cleburne, Kansas, the daughter of Ferdie and Georgia (Fronce) Jensen. She was one of fourteen children, seven sons and seven daughters. When Cleburne was razed, due to the building of Tuttle Creek Reservoir, her family moved to Manhattan in 1952 and that is where she was a resident most of her life.

Marian worked in different nursing homes as a health care aide before going to work in the housekeeping department at Kansas State University. She enjoyed going to auctions, garage sales, taking care of her yard and growing flowers. She was a collector of depression glass dishes, bird figurines and glass baskets. She also enjoyed watching the birds that would visit her yard. Marian loved spending time with her family most of all.

She is survived by one son, Lloyd Sando of Leonardville; three daughters, Barb Turnbull of Hastings, Minnesota, Anita Cohen of Manhattan and Jan Knudson of Manhattan; one sister, Katie Register of Manhattan; seven grandchildren, Deandra (Chris) Sando-Anderson, Robin (Brian) Sando-Anderson, Dolly (Dustin) Stanley, Holly (Paul) Sando-Vassor, Damon (Genevieve) Turnbull, Aaron Turnbull, and Sean Swartz, and nine great grandchildren, Cassandra, Dylan, Alexzandra, Bailey, Rylee, Tori, Julian, Skye, and Iona.

She was preceded in death by her parents; twelve siblings, Gerry Jensen, Harold Jensen, Carroll Jensen, Glenn Jensen, Leo Jensen, Elsie Bammes, Leona Hanson, Doris Petty, Lloyd Jensen, Leroy Jensen, Edith Stoehr, and Lucille Jensen, and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Sando.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Leonardville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 10:45 am Tuesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, and the family will process to the cemetery.
