Larry Earl Jones

Larry Earl Jones Sr., age 72, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Oklahoma City. He was born on December 25, 1939, at Clay Center, Kansas, the son of Thomas and Irene (McClosky) Jones. He graduated from Riley Rural High School with the Class of 1957. He was commercial contractor and had been a sheet metal worker for several years. On November 3, 1967, he married Catherine Coleman at Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Howard Jones in 1998. Larry is survived by his wife, Cathy of the home; one son, Larry Jones Jr. and wife Ginger of Berger, Missouri; one daughter, Kristi Lynn Rohaus and husband Casey of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; two sisters, Eleanor Strauss and Virginia Cameron both of Clay Center, Kansas; six grandchildren and several other relatives and special friends. A graveside service with full military honors was held on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Bala Cemetery, with Rev. D. Erich Schwartz officiating. The Holmes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley, Kansas, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established for the Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at KSU.
