Kay Alisyn Hartloff, age 65, of Blue Rapids, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
Kay was born on October 25, 1960, in Marysville, Kansas, to Dale E. and Iona J. (Marshall) Comer. She graduated from Valley Heights High School in 1978. Following graduation, she dedicated time to caregiving, working at two local nursing homes where her compassionate nature shone through.
On September 1, 2001, Kay married the love of her life, Rob Hartloff, at the United Presbyterian Church in Blue Rapids. Together, they built a life full of hard work and adventure, proudly operating the Route 77 Corner Store in both Blue Rapids and Waterville.
Kay cherished riding on the back of Rob’s motorcycle, logging thousands of miles together on weekends and vacations—often 12,000 to 15,000 miles in a single year. They were proud members of the Roughriders Motorcycle Group (based in Lincoln, Nebraska), a non-profit organization dedicated to brotherhood, fellowship, safe riding, and community support.
In addition to the Roughriders, Kay was previously involved in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the American Legion Auxiliary, and her beloved United Presbyterian Church in Blue Rapids.
Kay is survived by her devoted husband, Rob Hartloff; her children, Jacob (Martha) Wichman of Firestone, Colorado, Jada (Darrin) Wichman of Marysville, Kansas, Jorden (Heath) Wichman of Manhattan, Kansas, and Andrew (Sydney) Hartloff of Trenton, Missouri; her sister, Sharon (Dennis) Osborne of Blue Rapids; six grandchildren, Kortlyn, Karson, Frieda, Heidi, Jakobi, and Adeline; one great-grandchild, Kaybrin; and many nieces and nephews, including the rest of the “7 J’s”— Jennifer Justin, Jason, and Jancy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Iona Comer, and her brother, Jay Comer.
Viewing will be held from noon to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, with visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the United Presbyterian Church in Blue Rapids, with Pastor Shannon Borgman officiating. Prerecorded musical selections will include “Sorry,” “Free Bird,” “Simple Man,” and “I Could Not Ask For More.” Casket bearers will be Jacob Wichman, Heath Sweet, Jakobi Wichman, Karson Roepke, Jeff Pishney, and Scott Blaske. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, south of Blue Rapids.
Kay’s warmth, adventurous spirit, and love for her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Memorials are suggested to Roughriders NE Motorcycle Club and may be sent in care of Christie-Anderes Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
