Kathy Louise Weaver, age 80 of Riley, passed away Friday, September 4, 2026, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
She was born on July 6, 1946, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Wilbur and Edith Purvis.
On June 2, 1967, she married Roger Weaver and they had a daughter, Jennifer. They later divorced.
Kathy worked for the Department of Children and Families as an income maintenance worker. She was a member of the Riley United Methodist Church, United Women in Faith, and served as the church organist. She was a volunteer for Kansas Guardianship for 22 years and Purple Paws Animal Welfare Society in Manhattan since 2020.
She loved animals, which eventually lead her to fostering and working with PPAWS. Some of her hobbies included cross-stitch, crossword puzzles, reading, and playing the piano and organ. Her favorite music to listen to was classical or Christian music. Of course, she had to include Elvis and her favorite, Kenny Rogers. She was the organist for the church for many years, and that was a pure enjoyment for her.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Weaver of Leavenworth; one brother, John Purvis and wife Andrea of Mound City; four sisters, Mary Jones and husband Tom of Cottonwood Falls, Laura Burnett and husband Steve of Wamego, Alice Purvis of Fredonia, and Evonne Joyal and husband Jim of Olathe.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Purvis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Riley United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Thursday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Riley Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Riley United Methodist Church or Purple Power Animal Welfare Society (PPAWS) and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, PO Box 176, Riley, Kansas 66531.
