John Hofmann

John Hofmann

John Howard Hofmann, age 67 of Leonardville, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital.

He was born on September 16, 1951 in Manhattan, the son of Howard John and Esther Sofie (Hasenbank) Hofmann. He was married to Sue Brown on February 4, 1978 and to this union they had three daughters.  They later divorced.

On November 22, 2006 in Randolph, he was married to Marjorie Ann Williams.  She survives of the home.

Early in his career, he was a Police Reservist in Manhattan and then the Chief of Police in Wamego for many years.  He later worked at Kansas State University as a Maintenance Repair Technician.  John was a jack-of-all trades who enjoyed helping anyone.  He enjoyed computers and reading motivational books, striving to be the best person he could be.  He met many friends over cups of coffee and loved going on walks, even hiking Pikes Peak.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Jayme Reid and Bilal of Manhattan, Jennifer McCown and Greg of Wamego and Jill Rush and Mike of Fort Collins, Colorado; two step children, Chris Ricker and Josh of Leonardville and Wade Simnitt of Clay Center; one sister, Howlette Kleiner and Richard of Manhattan; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a niece, nephew and great niece and many in-laws, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.  Inurnment will be in the Riley Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for the Johnson Cancer Research at KSU.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
