Jerry Pultz

Jerry K. Pultz, age 85 of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Stoneybrook Health and Rehab in Manhattan.

Born on December 1, 1939, in Manhattan, Jerry was the beloved son of Willard Zee and Opal Esther (Springer) Pultz.  A proud graduate of Manhattan High School, Class of 1957, Jerry remained a lifelong resident of the community he cherished.

Jerry served honorably in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963, achieving the rank of AWM3 (Aviation Electrician's Mate, Petty Officer 3rd Class).  Following his military service, he dedicated 28 years to Fort Riley, Kansas, as a telecommunications specialist in the DOIM's Inside Plant Section.  Even after retirement, Jerry continued to serve his community as a gate guard at Marshall Field and later as a Code Inspector for the City of Ogden, Kansas.

A man of many passions, Jerry loved hunting and flying single-engine planes during his Navy days.  He was an avid water skier and spent countless summers boating and fishing on Tuttle Creek Lake.  Known for his quick wit and warm heart, he was a regular at Texas Hold'em games with his poker budding.  In high school, he earned the nickname "Crazy Legs" for his unforgettable dance moves.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Vida (Skoody) M. Pultz (Running); two sons, Sean Pultz (Vicky) of Shawnee, Kansas and Thad Pultz (Sally) of Manhattan, Kansas; and his cherished grandchildren, Zee Pultz of Shawnee, Kansas, Haley Pultz of San Diego, California, and Curtis Pultz of Murrieta, California.  He is also survived by his brother, John Pultz (Sharon) of Littleton, Colorado; and his best friend of over 75 years, John King of Overland Park, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Pultz; his parents, Willard and Opal; and his brothers, Bill and Duane Pultz.

Jerry's legacy is one of love, laughter, and loyalty.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
