Jerry Mettler

Jerry Ray Mettler, age 85, of Blue Rapids, passed away on September 8, 2024, at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. 

Jerry was born May 12, 1939, in Tuscola, Illinois, to Orville “Archie” and Elinor (Fisher) Mettler. He graduated with the class of 1958, from Villa Grove High School in Villa Grove, Illinois. He served in the US Army from 1958 to 1960. Jerry worked as an asphalt roller operator until his retirement. He married Joan L. Nider on May 18, 1977, she passed away in 2007. 

Survivors include his daughter Jeri Jo Smith-Williams of Longmont, Colorado, a brother Johnny Mettler and a niece Angie Mettler of Paxico, Kansas, a niece Tammy Hall of Sadorus, Illinois, a niece Julie Heywood of Blue Rapids, Kansas; along with other nieces and nephews. 

Preceding Jerry in death were his parents Orville “Archie” and Elinor and wife Joan. 

A private graveside inurnment service will be held at a later date.
