Gleora Ann (Rothfuss) Strauss, 72, of Randolph, KS died Thursday, September 10, 2015 after a short illness. Gleora was born April 30, 1943 in Concordia, KS, the daughter of Glen and Opal (Nelson) Rothfuss. She attended the Morganville, KS schools. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Following a short illness, Gleora departed this life peacefully and surrounded by family members three days after her 52nd wedding anniversary. On September 7, 1963 she was united in marriage to Warren Allen Strauss at the Morganville Methodist Church. Gleora and Warren enjoyed a wonderful life together. Gleora is survived by her husband, Warren of the home, a daughter, Michelle Ann Parker and her husband Daryl of Manhattan, KS, sons Eric Allen Strauss and his wife Sabrina of Holmen, WI, Darren Allen Strauss and wife Lori of Moore, OK and Kevin Allen Strauss of the home; two sisters, Marilyn Muto-Young and husband Bob Muto and Bonnie Machmer and husband Pat; ten grandchildren and two twin great-grandsons. Gleora and Warren are members of the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and take care of her family. She had an extensive collection of highly requested family recipes that she stored in her own unpublished cookbook. She was employed for a number of years at JCPenny’s and was recognized as Employee of the Week by the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce in 1975. She was also employed for many years by Kansas State University before retiring in 2000. Gleora was a member of the Omicron Masters chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a sorority member for over 40 years and loved to entertain and host parties for her sorority sisters. Gleora loved to travel with her family and was able to visit 46 of the 50 United States as well as travel to Italy with her sisters. She especially enjoyed multiple trips to Walt Disney World in Florida. The Christmas season was her favorite holiday and she loved decorating her home and celebrating the season with her family and friends. She had a Christmas tree in almost every room of her home with plans to add more. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, September 14, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan with Rev. Troy Bowers officiating. Respect calls may be made anytime Sunday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home in Riley. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, KS. There will be a luncheon at 1:00 P.M. Monday for family and friends in the First United Methodist Church basement. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Manhattan, KS. Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
