Farrel Chartier

Farrel Gene Chartier, age 85 of Miltonvale, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center.

He was born on February 12, 1937 south of Clyde, the son of Zephern and Dorothy (Cyr) Chartier.

He worked for Farmers Union Co-op  grain elevators in Miltonvale & Clay Center for 39 years.  He was a longtime member of the Miltonvale Volunteer Fire Department, Miltonvale Young Farmers, Miltonvale Christian Church.  Farrel officially started the Miltonvale Celebration "Tootlefest" Turtle races and children's games.  He worked on the “chain gang” at Miltonvale High School football games and was known for his big voice "Good Day" farewell, quick wit, laugh and smile.  He was an avid horseman, member of the Miltonvale Saddle Club and hobby farmer: raising pigs, horses and dairy and beef cows.

He is survived by two daughters, Deb Beaver (Brian) of Hoisington and Denette Westerman (Dirk) of Wakefield; one son, Doug Chartier of Wichita; the mother of his children, Marlene Chartier of Clay Center; his twin brother, Darrel Chartier (Ruth) of Deer Creek, Oklahoma; his sister, Carol Ricketts (Rick) of Clay Center; eight grandchildren, Matthew Beaver (Ashley), Melissa Johnson (Kris), Heather Beaver, Jerrod Beaver (Bekki), Kyle Westerman (Gina), Kaleb Westerman (Lindsey), Keenan Westerman and Kirby Westerman; eleven great grandchildren, Landon Beaver, Lola Beaver, Teagan Beaver, Kylen Johnson, Kinsley Johnson, Braylon Beaver, Kieron Beaver, Dexter Westerman, Zephern Westerman, Grace Westerman and McCoy Westerman and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Elaine Claeys; one niece, Cheri Chartier and one nephew, David Chartier.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at the Miltonvale Christian Church.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 19, 2022 at the Miltonvale Christian Church.  Inurnment will be in the Miltonvale Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Miltonvale Volunteer Fire Department, Mayo Clinic COPD Research or the Midian Shrine Plane of Mercy and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
