Donald "Pops" Meister

Donald Joseph “Pops” Meister, age 74 of Blue Rapids, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on December 3, 1948 in El Cerrito, California, the son of Edward Joseph and Mary Eileen (Sullivan) Meister.

He married Virginia Hughes in 1978.  She preceded him in death in 2005.

Pops served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and worked as a Pressman for the San Francisco Chronicle.  He was a member of the E.C.V. and Hogs (Harley Davidson) and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and shooting pool.  He loved spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by two daughters, Bethena Marcotte of Blue Rapids and Cinde Earnest (Ken) of Red Bluff, California; one sister, Maureen Rosser of Kingman, Arizona; six grandchildren, Rick Seleska, Bob Seleska (Kim), Chris Lewis (Ashley), Kelly Hugart, Patty Hugart and Becky Hugart; many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Meister.

Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life service to be held at a later date.
