Dean Emil Anderson, age 90, of Waterville, passed away at his home on Monday, November 3, 2025.

Dean was born February 15, 1935, in Waterville. He is the son of Elmer J. and Emma H. (Roepke) Anderson. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1954. On November 23, 1957, he married Peggy M. Stryker in Topeka.

Dean was a member of the Waterville United Methodist Church, Sutton Lodge 85 of the Masonic Lodge, Springer Post 332 of the American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

After serving in the US Army, Dean moved to Topeka where he worked in a plumbing supply store and then did some custom harvesting. After getting married Peggy and Dean returned to Waterville where he purchased a plumbing business. Later they managed several motels and trailer parks across the US. Dean and Peggy retired early coming home to Waterville. In retirement he purchased and renovated several home to resell or to keep as rental properties.

Dean was willing to try anything and build anything. He took great pleasure working in his yard and garden. He enjoyed people having fun and he never turned anyone away who was in need. Dean loved and enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. Teaching them the many things he had learned and mostly how to have fun.

Survivors include his three children: Gwendolyn Hemphill of Blue Rapids, Gayla (Terry) Stout of Hanover and Michael (Lisa) Anderson of Waterville, four grandchildren: Jason (Kristie), Ritchie (Heather), Bryant and Andy (Kendall), and seven great grandchildren.

Preceding Dean in death were his wife, Peggy, parents Elmer and Emma Anderson, a brother Wayne Anderson, a sister Lela McCray, a son in law Steve Hemphill and a great granddaughter Savanah.

A memorial service will be held at Christie-Anderes Funeral Home, on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00 am. Inurnment with Military Honors will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Waterville Fire Department, and may be sent in care of Christie-Anderes Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
