Connie Heidebrecht

Connie Heidebrecht was born November 22, 1945, on Thanksgiving Day in Marysville, the daughter of George and Edith (Collins) Ungerer. She went to be with her Lord and Savior August 14, 2026.

She lived most of her life in Elm Creek Township southeast of Marysville. She attended Pleasant Prairie Grade School, graduated from Marysville High School, then Lincoln School of Commerce with an Administrative Assistant Degree.

On April 20, 1989, Connie married Jim Heidebrecht. He passed away in 2015.

Connie’s love for animals was a defining part of her life. She started Skyview Kennel in 1973 and continued raising puppies and finding them loving homes until 2026. She was a strong believer in Pet Therapy and enjoyed taking her animals to nursing homes. She also served as the countywide 4-H Dog Leader for more than 10 years. She was proud to be named Activity Director of the Year by the Kansas Health Care Association in 1994 and Marshall County 4-H Family of the Year with her family in 2003.

Above all, Connie cherished being a mom, grandma, and great grandma. She loved spending time with her family, attending their activities, living on the farm, enjoying nature, and sharing her love of music. She was known for her fiery spirit, quick wit, sense of humor, and strong will, but also for her generous heart and deep care for others. She faced life’s challenges with strength and resilience and always found ways to bring laughter and joy to those around her.

She had a strong faith in God that was important to her, and she cherished the fellowship and friendships she found through her church communities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister and Conway Twitty.

She is survived by her children, Amanda (Darrin) Svoboda, Marysville, Spencer (Kristie) Sutton, Odell, NE, Jennifer Downard, Manhattan and Emily (Matt) Wassenberg, Marysville; her special friend, John Walsh, Blue Rapids; grandchildren Raechel (Spencer) Blades, Parkville, MO, Schuyler (Kirby) Sutton, Columbus, NE, Danielle (Matthew) Fulks, Eudora, Shane (Tayler) Sutton, Jacksonville, FL, Kaden Sutton (Kenzie Strein), Lincoln, NE, Maren Wassenberg, Kenzie Wassenberg and Cody Svoboda, Marysville, and Connor (MaeLynn) Svoboda, Beatrice, NE; great-grandchildren Brooks, Noah, and Parker Blades, Jori, Revy, and Scottie Sutton, Evelyn Fulks and Hudson Svoboda.

Viewing will be from noon until 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Christie-Anderes Funeral Home in Waterville, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Marysville. Following the service, the funeral procession will take Connie on a final drive by her farm that she loved, giving her one last opportunity to check on her crops and her cows, on her way to her burial in the Elm Creek Cemetery.
