Chuck Bragunier

Charles S. “Chuck” Bragunier, age 88, of Waterville, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville.

Chuck was born September 11, 1935, in Los Angeles, California to Earl Winfield and Mildred (Scott) Bragunier.  He joined the US Navy while in high school and was stationed in Panama during the Korean War.  After the Navy he worked for Pacific Bell Telephone and it’s successors until his retirement.  He met his life’s love, Laura Conroy. when he went to her home to do some work for the telephone company.  They were married on December 28, 1963, in Las Vegas.  She passed away in 2010.  Chuck and his wife Laura moved to Waterville in 1999.

Chuck was one of those guys who never knew a stranger and always had a story to tell.  Most of his stories were from either the time he spent in Panama while in the navy, or the many cruises or trips to Las Vegas he and Laura made.

Chuck was a member of the Waterville United Methodist Church, the Waterville Lion’s Club, and the Marshall County Railroad Historical Society.  He loved to support the Valley Heights students by attending sporting events and theater productions.

Survivors include his daughter Millie (Tim) Laughlin of Overland Park, a son Albert Garber of Morgantown, Kentucky, five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Preceding Chuck in death were his parents, his wife Laura, a son Charles E. Bragunier, a daughter Kathy Horney, a grandson Steve Medina, and a sister Melodie Heredia.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Riverside Cemetery in Waterville with Pastor Berniece Ludlum officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the Valley Heights Scholarship Fund and may be sent in care of Christie-Anderes Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
