Carolyn Marie Bailey, age 84 of Manhattan, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan.

She was born on October 8, 1938 in Salina, the daughter of Willard Carl and Opal Fern (Miller) Burkman.  She graduated from Randolph High School.

On June 3, 1956, she married Orland L. Rosell.  They had four children and later divorced.  She married Russell E. Bailey on September 10, 1982.  He preceded her in death in 2008.

Carolyn worked as the food service supervisor at Kansas State University Student Union, was a produce manager for Dyers IGA and worked in food service at Wamego High School.  She was a member of the Manhattan Church of Christ and Riley County Senior Center.  Carolyn was helpful by nature and enjoyed cake decorating, bowling, square dancing, fishing, camping, boating and playing Bunco.  She was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and K-State Women’s basketball.

She is survived by two sons, Orland L. Rosell, Jr. and wife Pam of Great Falls, Montana and Edward L. Rosell and wife Karla of Wamego; two daughters, Debra Engler of Topeka and Amy Reifsteck and husband Bill of Powell, Ohio; three step sons, Justin Bailey and wife Jolene of Pennsylvania, Troy Bailey and wife Kim of Manhattan and Travis Bailey and wife Lori of Pennsylvania; one brother, Jim Burkman and wife Linda of Tennessee; one sister, Bonnie Hanson of Salina; one brother-in-law, Jim Burgman of Salem, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Verna Burkman of Salem, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Russell Bailey, she was preceded in death by parents; one brother, Bill Burkman; one sister, Diana Bergman; one brother-in-law, Ken Hanson and one great step-grandchild, Bailey Jean Coggins.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until service time on Tuesday.  Burial will be in the Randolph Fancy Creek Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Manhattan Church of Christ and American Cancer Society.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
