Ben Nyberg

Benjamin M. Nyberg, age 91 of Manhattan, passed away Monday, June 16, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

He was born on July 19, 1933, in Salina, the son of Oscar Eugene and Hazel Frances (Olson) Nyberg.

He married Mary Lyndal Bales on June 7, 1958, in Wichita. Ben was a Professor Emeritus of English at Kansas State University.

He is survived by his wife Lyndal Nyberg of Manhattan; one son, Paul Nyberg and wife Lisa of Wamego; one daughter, Jane Freij and husband Adel of Cypress, California; three grandchildren, Nabil Freij and wife Angela, Lena Freij and husband Gabe Greif, and Elis Freij; and one great granddaughter, Amina Freij.

Cremation is planned with services to be held at a later date. A complete obituary will follow and be announced by the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.
