William A. Wilcox

William A. “Bill” Wilcox, 63, of Blue Rapids passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021, at Bryan West LGH in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bill was born December 14, 1957, in Blue Rapids. He is the son of Robert G. Wilcox and Garnet S. (Singleton) Wilcox-Davis.

He grew up in Waterville and attended Valley Heights Jr. Sr. High School.

He worked at many places over the years, including Diamond D Trailers and Titan Trailers and as a truck driver at Landoll Corporation and Kotapish Farms.

Bill was a father, grandfather, brother, friend and truly a legend of his own making. He lived life to the fullest and his life motto was, “I usually don’t give a shit but when I do you will know, and it will be from my heart.” With his carefree, unique personality he could not have lived up to his life motto any better. He had a contagious smile that would light up any room, and he impacted the lives of many with his generosity, crazy sense of humor and hysterical storytelling. To Bill, a stranger was simply a friend he had not yet met. He was passionate about traveling and was always ready for his next adventure. These travels took him to 48 states and Canada, and it’s safe to say he had friends in every place he visited. When he wasn’t traveling, he could be found tinkering with one of his motorcycles or classic trucks as he was a very knowledgeable mechanic. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycles, and spending time with family and friends. Whatever he was doing, he enjoyed doing it with others and making it fun. As gruff as he appeared on the outside, he was a teddy bear on the inside with a heart of gold; he even wrote poetry that would bring you to tears.

Survivors include sons Michael Wilcox, Wymore, Nebraska, and Billy “BJ” (Jessica Leis) Wilcox, Blue Rapids and daughters Mendy Wilcox, Hanover, and Amber (GP) Floyd, Carlton; grandchildren; brothers Bryon (Deb) Wilcox, Bob (Cathy) Wilcox, Jon (Deb Long) Wilcox and Randy Wilcox; and sisters Lorena Wilcox, Vicki (Scott Mahan) Morgan, and René (Ken) Smith; stepfather Tim Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jake.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 at the Blue Rapids Grade School gymnasium with Mr. Rod Christie officiating. Honorary pall bearers include Rick Johnston, Noah Welper, Todd Williams, Michael Kesel, Nik Lockhart and Jim Tillotson.

A private inurnment at Prospect Hill Cemetery will take place at a later date.
