Idris A. Thyfault, age 82, of Blue Rapids, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Beatrice, Nebraska.
Idris was born October 19, 1938, in Concordia, Kansas, to Edgar A. and Mary E. Thyfault.
He graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1956. After high school Idris joined the US Navy serving as a Corpsman.
He married Dolores Haverdansky, they later divorced.
He returned to Blue Rapids where he worked for Georgia Pacific Gypsum as a miner. He then married Carole L. Williams in 1982, she passed away in 2009.
Idris was a member of the George Bedford Post 169 of the American Legion in Blue Rapids and attended the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, coon hunting and fishing. Also, in his day, he was a pretty good softball pitcher. He loved playing practical jokes and telling stories. Most of all he loved his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his three children: Lisa (Don) Snyder, Cynthia Dorn and Marc (Melva) Thyfault, all of Beatrice, six grandchildren, and by five great-grandchildren.
Preceding Idris in death were his parents and his wife Carole.
Funeral services are at 2:00 pm, Friday, June 25, 2021, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home, in Waterville, with Pastor Mike Hanneman officiating. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Music is to include a pre-recorded selection of “In The Garden”. Casket Bearers are Seth DeBoer, Don Snyder, Jon Messner, Josh Dorn, Jason Thyfault and Bob Wiley. Burial, with Military Honors by a US Navy Honors Detail and the George Bedford Post 169 of the American Legion, will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids, Kansas.
