Harlan E. Turk. With his family by his side, the Lord called him home to be with Him on Thursday, December 3, 2020. He was 77 years old.

Harlan was born October 25, 1943 to Ollie and Margaret (Greiveldinger) Turk at their home near Washington, Kansas. 

He attended St. John’s Grade School in Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School in 1961. After graduation, he and his brother Charles farmed near Hanover and Washington.  

He married Doris Cooney on October 3, 1970. They had just celebrated their fiftieth anniversary. Harlan and Doris purchased their farm near Barnes, Kansas in 1970, where they continued farming and raising livestock with their sons, Greg and Brian. 

He worked for Buchanan Truck Line and Shehee Postal Service, hauling mail across the United States. He later bought his own semi, hauling grain. They purchased their home in Waterville in 2000, where he could continue raising livestock and helping the boys with the farming.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles Turk, father and mother-in-law, Roy and Alice Laflin, a son-in-law, Travis Lohmeyer, and a sister-in-law, Frances Rauch. 

Survivors include his wife Doris, his children: LaShelle (Jeff) Beikmann of Linn, Sherry (Jeff) Wiese of Linn, Greg Cooney of Barnes, Lisa Lohmeyer of Alma, Brian (Jessica) Turk of Barnes, two sister-in-laws Janice (Verdell) Koerwitz of Shiloh, Georgia and Loma Turk, Hanover. Twelve grandchildren: Derek Wiese, Linn, Chad (Ashtyn) Wiese of St. George, Brooke (Evan) McGatlin of Washington, Hailey Lohmeyer of Clay Center, McKenzie Lohmeyer, Alyssa Lohmeyer and Tyler Lohmeyer, of Alma, Brent (Amanda) Wiese of Baldwin City, Gunner Turk, Gavin Turk, Gabe Turk and Geni Turk, of Barnes, and Two great grandchildren Ellie and Olivia Wiese of St. George.

Viewing will be from noon to 8:00 pm, with visitation between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, on Tuesday, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the United Methodist Church in Waterville with Pastor Troy Bowers officiating. Music is to include “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “Amazing Grace” sung by Kim Oatney accompanied by Beverly Hedke. Kim Oatney and Beverley Hedke will play an organ and piano medley before the service.  A committal service will be held at 2:00 pm, following the service, at Greenwood Cemetery at Clay Center with Pastor Scott Lingle officiating. His grandchildren will be the casket bearers.
