Joyce A. Quinn, age 69, of Blue Rapids, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Stormont Vail Medical Center in Topeka.

Joyce was born June 24, 1951, at Marysville, to Charles T. and Theresa D. (Cook) Ervin. 

She attended Manhattan High School then earned her Associates Degree in Business. She is also a graduate of Crum’s Beauty School in Manhattan. 

She had worked as beautician, and as a manger in several businesses including several Short Stop locations and the Manhattan ATA. She had also drove trucks over the road as a co-driver with her late husband, Stephen. She retired in 2012.

She was baptized at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Blue Rapids. Later when she moved back to Blue Rapids she attended the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church.

Joyce had a big heart and always had a smile on her face. She loved her kids and just about everyone else. She was always ready to give or receive a hug. After moving to Blue Rapids she became a huge Valley Heights Mustangs fan.

Survivors include her five children: Wendy S. Allen of Topeka, Randy J. Allen of Topeka, Sean T. (Kim) Allen of Burlington, David D. (Holly) Buys of Williston, North Dakota and Dana L. (CJ) Young of Galena, a brother Lavern Ervin of Blue Rapids, a sister Bonnie Whitesell of Blue Rapids, fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding Joyce in death were her parents, her husbands: Louis R. Allen and Stephen J. Quinn, and a sister Charlotte Paxton.

Memorial services are at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville with Pastor Troy Bowers officiating. Music is to include pre-recorded selections of “Amazing Grace” and “The Dance”, and a duet by Cheyenne Young and Christi Martin of “Dancing In The Sky”. Honorary Bearers are Dakotah Young, Ryan Woodyard, Dave Sanner, Andrew Ralph, Chuck Martin, Karson Allen, John Ralph and Dave Evans. Cremation is planned with private inurnment at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to either the Valley Heights Booster Club or the charity of the donor’s choice.
