Arthur D. Pierson, age 70, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Art was born January 2, 1950, at Lodi, Wisconsin to John L. and Fern L. (Pontius) Pierson. 

He graduated from St. Marys High School in St. Marys, Kansas, in 1968. 

He married Coleen E. Johnston on October 26, 1973, she passed away in 2002. He married Wanda L. Russell on August 7, 2006, she survives.

After high school Art joined the US Navy and was deployed to Vietnam. When he returned home he worked as a truck driver and farmed land he had leased. He worked for several trucking companies including Koch Trucking and Keim Trucking. While working for Keim he received several driving awards including Safe Driver and for having the Highest Mileage. In 1986 he retired from driving in order to be home for his sons. He then began to farm full time and later purchased the farm he had been leasing. For many years he had a rental business owning as many as fifteen homes in Blue Rapids which he rented. Art always wanted to be there for his family and made every effort to do so. He loved being outside working with his cattle or fishing. He also loved his Denver Bronco’s and taking time to watch John Wayne movies.

Survivors include his wife Wanda of Blue Rapids, his mother Fern of Cheyenne, Wyoming, his four sons: Brian “BJ” (Marlene) Pierson of Bakersfield, California, Kevin (Lisa) Pierson of Blue Rapids, Levi (Jayne) Pierson of Blue Rapids and Brad Remmers and his fiancé Sunshine Uribe of Blue Rapids, a brother Steve Pierson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, three sisters: Kaylynn (Vick) Medina of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Peggy Garcia of Wamsutter, Colorado and Joyce Meadows of Blue Rapids, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his father John, his wife Coleen, two brothers: Randy Pierson and Rocky Pierson, a sister Robin Bolejack and a daughter Lena Remmers.

Funeral services are at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville with Dennis Holst officiating. Music will include congregational hymns of “Anywhere With Jesus”, “Amazing Grace” and “When All of God’s Singers Get Home”. Casket Bearers are BJ Pierson, Kevin Pierson, Levi Pierson, Sam Kracht, Johnny Nordquist and Mike Meadows. Burial with Military Honors is at Fairmont Cemetery in Blue Rapids.
