Robert A. Bergquist, age 76, of Waterville, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020, at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville. 

Bob was born February 24, 1944, at Osage City, Kansas, to Arthur and Margaret (Bergstrom) Bergquist. 

He graduated from Osage City Rural High School in 1962. He then served as an Operating Room Technician in the US Navy, serving a tour in Vietnam. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1972, with a degree in Wildlife Biology. Upon graduation he went to work for Kansas Wildlife and Parks as a Wildlife Biologist, retiring in 2002. After retirement, Bob worked for the Waterville Housing Authority and for Terry-Christie Funeral Home. 

On May 29, 1964, he was united in marriage to Jeannette Washburn. To this union was born one daughter, Kristin and one son, Alrik. 

Bob was a member of the Waterville United Methodist Church, where he served on the Finance Committee, was a lay leader, a Sunday School Teacher, Alpha Group Leader and a member of the church choir. Bob was a member of the Gideons International, American Legion Springer Post 332 and VFW, Lions Club, Sutton Lodge 85 of the AF&AM, Waterville Tree Board, and was a life time member of the K-State Alumni Association. 

Bob’s favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and traveling with his family. 

Survivors include his wife, Jeannette, a daughter, Kristin Bergquist of Waterville, Maine, a son, Alrik (Nora) Bergquist of Lincoln, Nebraska, and a sister, Anna May Ptacek of Parkville, Missouri. 

Preceding Bob in death were his parents, four brothers: Edwin Bergquist, Ralph Bergquist, Raymond Bergquist and Harold Bergquist, and two sisters: Christine Woolery and Carolyn Walden. 

Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Thursday, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. Private Graveside Services are at 11:00 am Friday, May 8, 2020, at Riverside Cemetery, Waterville, with Pastor Troy Bowers officiating. (The service will be available live on Facebook.)  Music will include a hymn of “Amazing Grace” and recordings of “It Is Well With My Soul” and “I’ll Fly Away”. Honorary Pallbearers are: Roger Terry, Bill Bryant, Harry Steinfort, Bob Washburn, Larry Nolte, Wally Pitney, Franklin Heck and LJ Stephenson. Burial with Military Honors is at Riverside Cemetery, Waterville.  A memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Memorials are suggested to either: Waterville United Methodist Church or Waterville Tree Board and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
