Clara "Mae" Claycamp

Clara "Mae" Claycamp, age 85, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020, at Hillcrest Shadow Lake Nursing Home in Papillion, Nebraska, after a years-long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mae was born on February, 11, 1935, at Hanover, Kansas, to William “Bud” S. and Alta M. (Richmond) Singleton. 

She married Wayne E. Claycamp on June 20, 1954 at Blue Rapids. After a short honeymoon in Mexico they moved to Omaha, Nebraska where they lived for 65 years. They were one of three couples where three sisters from the Singleton family married three brothers from the Claycamp family.

Mae worked as a Teacher’s Aide for special needs students. She worked at Train Elementary and then Bancroft Elementary schools in the Omaha Public School system, after being a stay home mom raising five children. She was a devoted wife and mother.   

Survivors include a son Michael Claycamp (Kim) of Papillion, Nebraska, three daughters: Diana Calabretto, Carolyn Shulo (Bill) & Julie Krejci (Tony) all of Omaha, three brothers: Al Singleton of Blue Rapids, Kansas, Bill (Mary) Singleton of Topeka, Kansas, Harold “Butch” Singleton (Sharon) of Seneca, Kansas, four sisters: Carol Claycamp (Larry), Paula Murk (Everett), and Sue Hull all of Blue Rapids, Kansas and Lori Patton (Chadd) of Crete, Nebraska. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and two brothers-in-law: Tim Davis and Glenn Claycamp.

Clara Mae was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Wayne in October 1999, two sons Steven Ray Claycamp and Kevin Wayne Claycamp, and sisters Garnet (Singleton) Davis and Anna Margaret (Singleton) Claycamp.

Private graveside services will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids with Pastor Shanon Borman officiating. Burial is at Prospect Hill Cemetery, North of Blue Rapids.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
