Irma Laura Lupher, age 95, of Blue Rapids, formerly of Greenleaf, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville.Irma was born February 5, 1923, in Washington, to Fred C. and Alma M. (Hagedorn) Vathauer. She attended Barnes High School. On February 6, 1939, she married Clovis “Kelly” Lupher at Junction City. Irma was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church most of her life.Irma was a loving housewife and mother of ten children. This was the most important purpose in her life. She was happiest when the “kids” gathered at her home, including the never ending cooking and baking. She also enjoyed embroidery and sewing, as well as attending ball games when the children were young. After the kids were grown, Irma worked at the Hook ‘n Hanger in Greenleaf, then for several years at the Linn Community Nursing Home in laundry.Survivors include her ten children; Karen Adams of Salina, Gale (Doris) Lupher of Greenleaf, Myrna (Stanley) Cairns of Greenleaf, Linda (Martin) Merrill of Waterville, Vicki (Dan) Rempe of Lincoln, Nebraska, Fred (Linda) Lupher of Lincoln, Nebraska, Debbie Tiemeyer of Columbus, Nebraska, Rhonda (Stan) Mueller of Frankfort, Tony Lupher of Vacaville, California and Shelli (Jim) Osborne of Blue Rapids, twenty one grandchildren, forty three greatgrandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren.Preceding in death were her parents, her husband of seventy years Kelly, on May 4, 2009, four sisters; Olive Smith, Luella McCarthy, Edith Wilson and infant Verba Vathauer, two brothers; Herman Vathauer and infant Clarence Vathauer, a grand-daughter Kelli Lynn Cairns and two son-in-laws; Kenny Tiemeyer and Richard Adams.Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Thursday, with visitation between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville.Funeral services are at 10:00 am, Friday, June 1, 2018, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, south of Barnes with Pastor Matthew Durance officiating. Kathy Otney is the organist. Music is to include her grandson Trenton Tiemeyer singing “The Old Rugged Cross”, her great granddaughter Olivia Wirth singing “Be Thou My Vision” and a congregational Hymn of “It Is Well With My Soul”. Casket Bearers are Rick Adams, Josh Lupher, Todd Cairns, Doug Lupher, Hubert Tiemeyer, Kelsey Osborne, Jon Cairns, Cody Osborne, Ronald Adams, Michael Cairns, Rodney Adams, Ryan Tiemeyer and Trenton Tiemeyer. Burial is at Greenleaf City Cemetery, north of Greenleaf.Memorials are suggested to either; St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or Meadowlark Hospice, and may be sent in care of the funeral home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
