Emogene Travelute, age 88, of Waterville, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids.Emogene was born on September 10, 1930, at Frankfort to James L. and Louise (Feldhausen) Tilley. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1946 at the age of 16. She met Allen D. Travelute while working as a bookkeeper for Leiber Implement Company in Waterville. They married on October 6, 1949. Allen passed away in 1995.Emogene worked alongside Allen on their farm, Travelute Trailers, and Travelute Western Store. She was a member of St. Monica and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Altar Society and enjoyed playing the organ for St. Monica Catholic Church for many years.Emogene loved music, she played piano, organ, guitar and the harmonica. The family raised and showed Registered Quarter Horses. She was a quiet person who was very family oriented. She also had a good head for business and all that she did, she wanted it done well.Survivors include her daughter Sandra (Mickey) McIntyre of Waterville, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Preceding her in death were husband, parents, two infant daughters; Debby Travelute and Joan Travelute, and two sisters, Pearl Ladner and Mary Breunsback.Viewing is from noon to 7:00 pm, Sunday, with visitation between 6:00pm and 7:00 pm, at St. Monica and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Blue Rapids. A Rosary will follow the visitation at 7:00 pm at the church.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 26, 2018, at St. Monica and St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Blue Rapids with Celebrants Father Jim Shaughnessey and Deacon Buzz Harris. Music is to include congregational hymns of “The Old Rugged Cross”, “On Eagles Wings” and “How Great Thou Art”, accompanied by musician Beverly Hedke. Casket Bearers are Don Musil, Alan Bruna, Chad Parker, Jim Tilley, Gene Harding and Jim Tate. Honorary Bearers are Dean Constable, Jerry Hedke and DO Parker. Burial is at St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery in Marysville.Memorials are suggested to the Emogene Travelute Memorial and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
