Charles H. "Red" Craft, age 81, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover.Memorial Services are at 10:30 am, Friday, December 7, 2018, at United Methodist Church in Blue Rapids, with Pastor Debby Dick officiating. Inurnment is at Fairmont Cemetery in Blue Rapids.Red was born March 3, 1937, at Blue Rapids, to Charles A. and May (Kirkbride) Craft. He graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1955. On May 2, 1957, he married Mary Ann Nider at the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church. She passed away in 1998. They had three children, Brent, Mike and Julie. He worked as a Signalman for the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1998.Red was a member of the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church. He loved hunting and being outdoors. He and one of his buddies used to enjoy taking drives in the country, looking for wildlife and appreciating what they found. He also enjoyed time he spent with his friends playing cards, particularly poker, trips to the casino and watching the Chiefs and the Royals play. Red was a big family man and enjoyed spending time with them whenever time allowed.Survivors include his son, Mike (Wava) Craft of Rose Hill, daughter, Julie Heywood of Tecumseh, Nebraska, eight grandchildren; James Craft of Blue Rapids, Ashley Clay of Marysville, Derik (Niki) Craft of Marysville, Brandon (Brianna) Craft of El Dorado, Sara Marano of Newport News, Virginia, Jessica (Shane) Jellison of Derby, Matthew Seymour of Rose Hill and Coleman Seymour of Rose Hill, and thirteen great-grandchildren.Preceding him in death are his wife, Mary Ann, a son, Brent, a brother, Carl, his parents and a son-in-law John Heywood.Memorials contributions can be given to either the Prairie Valley Veterinary Clinic’s Stray Animal Fund or the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
