Wilma R. Watters, age 88, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018, at the Blue Valley Senior Living in Blue Rapids.

Wilma was born October 13, 1930, to Charles W. and Alice B. (Burd) Crowder at Seward, Nebraska. She graduated from Blue Rapids High School in 1948.

She married John R. Watters on August 25, 1949, at Blue Rapids. She worked as the City Clerk for Blue Rapids for many years, retiring on October 30, 1995.

Wilma was a member of the Blue Rapids United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She taught Sunday School at the church for over 26 years. She was a member of the Blue Rapids Rebekah Lodge 337 and a board member of Blue Valley Nursing Home in Blue Rapids. Wilma loved to play softball, spending a lot of time on the mound pitching, and loved to go bowling.

Survivors include her daughter Rae Ellen (Jim) Kratky of Omaha, Nebraska, two grandsons; Adam (Megan) Koch of Omaha, Nebraska and Alex (Kiley) Koch of Wayne, Nebraska, three sisters; Maxine Lang of Alamo, Texas, Donna (Norman) Dederick of Topeka and Peggy Snook of Topeka, a brother Bill (Kay) Crowder of Topeka, and by 3 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband John in 1972, three brothers; John “Raymond” Crowder, Mahlyn Crowder and Norval Crowder and two sisters; Louise James and Emma Kassebaum, and a son-in-law Randy Koch.

Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Sunday, with visitation between 4:00 and 6:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville .Funeral services are at 10:00 am, Monday, December 3, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Blue Rapids, with Pastor Debby Dick officiating. Music is to include “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “Amazing Grace” sung by Kim Oatney. Althea Wertz is the musician. Casket bearers include Adam Koch, Alex Koch, Kent Dederick, Phil Osborne, Dave Sanner and Jim Flower.Burial is at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids.
