Rita 'Suni" Wesche

Rita 'Suni" Wesche, age 74, of Waterville, passed away on December 24, 2018, at her home after a short illness.

Suni was born October 10, 1944, at Mineral Wells, Texas, to Francis C. and Jewell E. (Virdel) Smith.

She married Alan E. Wesche on September 24, 1981, at Bishopville, Maryland.

Suni had worked as a Dip Tank Operator, coating motor parts for Westinghouse, as a police officer in Ocean Pines, Maryland, and as a Title Research Agent for a Time Share Company. Suni and Alan moved to Waterville in 2002 after his retirement.

She loved her animals, working in her flower garden and liked the solitary life of country living.

Survivors include her husband Alan, a daughter, Janett L. (Tom) Scheunemann of Lillington, North Carolina, a son; Mark Harpest of Zanesfield, Ohio, a brother, Jim Smith of The Colony, Texas, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two sons; Larry Harpest and Kerry Harpest, a brother, Ben Smith, Sr., and three sisters; Ruby Jenkins, Peggy Merritt and Betty Jefferies.

Cremation is planned with a private ceremony at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Douglas Mound Cemetery, to be used for the upkeep of the cemetery, and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
