Cynthia H. Genschorck, age 73, of Waterville, passed away January 29, 2020, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
Cindy was born on January 3, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio. She is the eldest daughter of Jack R. and Elsie L. (Miller) Ayres.
She graduated from Smith Center High School in Smith Center, Kansas, in 1964.
Cindy married Gary D. Genschorck at Aberdeen, Maryland, on March 25, 1967 while Gary was in the military.
She received her bachelor’s degree in 1989 from Metro State University, with majors in Business Management and Accounting.
Cindy worked as an accountant for numerous construction companies, as well as for the family’s construction business, G&G Construction, Inc.
She was a member of the Afton Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed volunteering her time at Community Memorial Health Care in Marysville and the Red Cross Blood Mobile.
Cindy loved to take care of her family. She was an incredible cook and hostess, her family’s favorite time of year was Thanksgiving. The meals and memories that she made will not soon be forgotten. Cindy was also a seamstress, making many of her family’s cloths. Cindy loved to talk and to play games. She was an avid card player and enjoyed frequent get-togethers with family and friends. She and her brother Ron have eight games of “Words with Friends” going, its Cindy’s turn.In the words of her daughter, Gigi, “Know that she loved you all more than you could possibly imagine. She’s going to leave an enormous hole in our hearts, because she was larger than life and the life of the party. Do her memory right by cherishing the people that you love as she did, have forgiveness for yourself as well as others, and enjoy every single moment you have with the people you love.”
Survivors include her husband Gary, two children: Gigi (Frank Birch) Genschorck of Kirksville, Missouri and Garrison (Kay) Genschorck of Bailey, Colorado, four sisters and a brother: Theresa Bohm, of Smith Center, Kansas, Roxanne Watts, of Kansas City, Missouri, Susan Gwennap of Hays, Kansas, Jackie (Morgan) Flemming, of Parkville, Missouri, and Ron Chamberlin (Del Gautsche) of Toledo, Ohio, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents Jack and Elsie Ayers.
Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Friday, with visitation between 6:30 and 8:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. Funeral services are at 10:00 am, Saturday, February, 8, 2020, at Afton Trinity Lutheran Church, northwest of Waterville with Pastor Paul Tessaro officiating. Hymns include “O Come All Ye Faithfull”, “I Know My Redeemer Lives” and “Rock of Ages”. Casket Bearers are: Ron Chamberlain, Garrett Genschorck, Connor Peterson, Blake Peterson, Luin Berger, Mike Cox and Loren Johannes. Cremation will follow the service with a private inurnment at the Afton Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Cindy Genschorck Memorial and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
