Rankin "Rank" W. Swearingen

Rankin “Rank” W. Swearingen, age 59, of Blue Rapids, passed away at his home in Blue Rapids on Saturday, December 21, 2019, after a short illness.

Rank was born October 1, 1960, at Marysville, to Jack W. and Dorothy K. (Petr) Swearingen. 

He graduated from Linn High School in 1978. 

Rank had worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and then with his dad as a Mechanic. Later he worked as a Washer for Titan Trailer Manufacturing. 

He married Sheron L. Dixon at their home outside Blue Rapids in 1992.

Rank was one of those guys who didn’t know a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. But, he was soft spoken and very shy fellow, although only those close to him knew how shy. He loved to tell stories and could talk forever, especially on the phone. He also loved to watch football, basketball and listen to country music.

Survivors include his wife Sheron, his three children: son Dan Engle of Manhattan, daughters Amber Swearingen and Jackie Swearingen of Blue Rapids, four brothers: Randy (Deb) Swearingen of Waterville, Rob (Karen) Swearingen of Blue Rapids, Rodney Swearingen of Blue Rapids and Ryan Swearingen of Lenexa, two sisters: Rhonda Pierson and Regina Pierson, and by six grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Sunday, with visitation from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. Graveside services are at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 23, 2019, at Prospect Hill Cemetery, north of Blue Rapids with Rod Christie officiating.  Casket Bearers include Dan Engle, Randy Swearingen, Rob Swearingen, Rodney Swearingen, Ryan Swearingen and Mike Dixon. Burial is at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
