Maxine R. Lister

Maxine R. Lister, age 80, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville.

Maxine was born at Herkimer on September 3, 1938, to Alfred C. and Ramona K. (Wasserman) Pralle. She attended high school at Marysville.

On January 6, 1956, she married Burton O. Lister. They remained together for seventeen years. In 1984 she found a friend and companion in Billy Roepke, that relationship lasted until his death in 2015.

At age sixteen she graduated from beauty school in St. Louis, Missouri. Being a beautician turned into a lifelong career. For over forty years, Maxine owned and operated several beauty shops in the Marshall County area.

As a young woman loved softball, she played first base. That began a love of sports which lasted the rest of her life. She also loved animals, especially dogs and cats. Everyone in the family loved and anticipated a phone call saying “Hey I’m making Mexican food tonight, want to come over?”

Survivors include her daughter, Debby Wessel of Blue Rapids, her son; Richard (Diane) Lister of Blue Rapids, four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Eunice (Paul) Bremer of Arlington, Minnesota and her brother Adrian (Mary) Pralle of Marysville.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday April 25, 2019, at 10:30 am, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville with Mr. Rod Christie officiating.

Memorials may be made out to the Maxine Lister Memorial and sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home, at PO Box 61, Waterville, KS 66548.
