Glennes R. Schuh

Glennes R. Schuh, age 87, of Blue Rapids, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at Valley Vista Nursing Home in Wamego.  

He was born March 14, 1931 in Waterville, Kansas, the son of Carl and Elsie (Oehler) Schuh. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Navy, discharged in 1953. He served during the Korean War and was a Damage Controlman. Glennes and his five brothers served in the U.S. Navy and their mother was named the Navy Mother of the Year in 1956.  

Glennes worked for the Powder Plant in Eudora, Kansas where they made powder for rockets. He later worked for Lamoureux Construction in Waterville, Kanas where traveled the U.S. building Butler Grain Bins until his retirement.  

He was united in marriage to Marjorie Ann Nester on June 7, 1955. They later divorced.   

Survivors include his four children, Randy Schuh, Morristown, TN, Lori Schuh Bishop, Manhattan, KS, Carla Schuh, Wamego, KS and Scott Schuh, Waterville, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a sister Marjorie Fisher, Waterville, KS.

He was preceded in death by grandsons, Shane Bishop and Bill Starkey; an infant sister, Barbara Ann Schuh and 5 brothers, Carl Schuh, Walt Schuh, Arnold Schuh, Ronald Schuh and Albert Schuh. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home, Waterville, Kansas.   Funeral services will be Thursday, March 7th at 10:30 am at Waterville United Methodist Church. with Pastor Debby Dick officiating. Music is to include “Amazing Grace”, as a congregational hymn, “How Great Thou Art and “Just A Closer Walk With Thee” will be sung by soloist Kim Oatney. A pre-recorded song “An Orchid” will be played. The musician is Beverly Hedke. Casket Bearers include; Jordan Bishop, Grant Bishop, Tim Stegeman, Troy Schuh, Steve Fisher and Terry Fisher. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Waterville, Kansas.  

Memorial contributions can be made to RSVP of Northeast Kansas, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
